I discovered the potential and desirability of more natural, sustainable beauty and skincare over a decade ago. Growing up in the heart of the Alps, surrounded by fascinating varieties of wood essences and plant species, I quickly realized how some visionaries returned to this source of inspiration to preserve nature but also to create skincare, creams, botanical oils, and scented waters—true elixirs of beauty and wellness.
A first experience solidified this passion: collaborating with the marketing teams at Pure Altitude (Sibuet Luxury Hospitality Group), a skincare brand harnessing the power of alpine botanicals. This experience underscored the environmental and commercial value of cosmetics and spa rituals that blend rarity, technical innovation, and sensorial pleasure—all while honoring nature.
From the French Alps to the Yellow Mountains in China, the leap isn’t as far as it seems. Living in Shanghai, I rediscovered this same drive to honor local heritage and natural ingredients. There, I worked alongside the founder of Ba Yan Ka La, a premium local brand highlighting the benefits of plants and the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine. Through this holistic approach, even in 2012, we spoke of reconnecting the body and mind, humanity and the Earth, through carefully selected natural ingredients. For both scientifically-driven and more traditional skincare brands, as well as sustainable beauty brands, there’s immense value in embracing this intimate relationship with our environment.
